Sports and Exploration

Sports and Exploration Unite for Education

NASA Sports and Exploration is a bilingual, hands-on inquiry based educational program targeting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as health, and physical education standards in grades 3-5.

This series of physical activities coupled with lab explorations and paralleling the astronaut and the athlete, focus on Newton’s three laws of motion, good nutrition, and physical fitness. Using space and sports relevance, students will be exposed to a positive team environment while exploring basic physics concepts. Incorporation of Major League Soccer concepts with NASA space exploration content brings the focus of the activities to a high level of excitement to entice young athletes and explorers.

NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration and the exciting future of long-duration spaceflight will influence the next generation of space explorers. Through hands-on experiences, the NASA Sports and Exploration project will involve the community and the family, and accommodate the needs of the bilingual learner.
