Langley Research Center (LaRC) supports the Human Research Program's Space Radiation Project in the areas of Measurements and Transport and the development of Radiation Design Tools.
LaRC has the technical leadership in the area of Measurements and Transport to develop and validate space radiation transport codes capable of predicting primary and secondary spectra of the space radiation environment interaction behind typical spacecraft and habitat shielding. This includes collecting experimental measurement data to improve cross section databases and to validate nuclear physics models as well as performing inter-code comparisons for benchmarking.
